Entry 2 - March 15

1. I think the webbing process helped/did not help me find a topic because:
I thought that the webbing process did not help me because I already had a good topic picked out beforehand.

Entry 3 - March 15

1. Topic:
My topic is ancient Roman medicine.

2. Why you chose it:
I chose my topic because ancient medical practices interest me greatly.

3. What you already know about your topic:
I currently know that ancient Roman medicine was greatly influenced by Hippocrates, tools were usually made of bone, infection was the leading cause of death in Roman people, Roman doctors had low social status at the start of the Roman republic, Roman doctors recieved higher status and recieved gits of land after generals found how important they were, treatments were generally very painful, the few painkillers they had were not very useful, amputation was a very common practice to prevent the deadly disease Gangrene, tools were sometimes made of iron, doctors generally took a very holistic approach to medicine, patients prayed to Asklepios, the Greek god of healing, and the Romans built the first hospitals.

1. What have I learned today?
I have learned that ancient Roman doctors were mainly used in battle. I also learned about the humors.

I have had problems finding good, informative sites.

3.How will I overcome the problem(s)?
I will overcome these problems by searching on new sites.
4.What will I do next?
Next I will search to find what the tools looked like.
